Every day women face men who hate women. Every day, women are besieged and taunted by those men and it has to stop sometime. As inspiration for this digital painting I took the figure of Lisbeth Salander from the trilogy by the Swedish writer and journalist Stieg Larsson. It depicts a confident woman who doesn't care about rules and ideals of beauty. Confidently, she has dyed her hair green and is raising her middle finger to the viewer; This gesture may come across as shocking to many but it is a clear message. You can't mess with her. Jan Keteleer is known for the ethereal light that his paintings often contain. In the beginning of his career he painted mostly purely abstract landscapes. Later in his career he began to incorporate more human figures. This work was created using various techniques and intended to be printed in an open edition on various materials and sizes. I always make my own proofs in my studio on ordinary paper and a limited edition on high-quality art print paper. This limited edition depicts for me what I had in mind, these prints are the only copies dated and signed. Printed on Fine Art paper, Hahnemühle Bamboo 290 gsm · 90% bamboo fibres · 10% cotton · natural white, image size 40x40cm + 5 cm of white margin for easier framing. Dated and signed in the white margin. For different sizes and materials please contact on: jan.keteleer@janke.be

Belgium
From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
