About The Artwork

MoMo’s painting represents human identity with the image of pop culture and touches on issues of Individualism, gender, and a feminism. In her art world, she is trying to break boundaries between Decorative art and Modernism in contemporary art. There is no gender, but only human identities. MoMo is inspired by mass media and popular culture to reflect a changed reality and face of the commercial industry, and she tries to find our needs in this society. She said,“in my work, any figure can be anyone” and it can be completed her purpose of this series with multiple perspectives of the audience. These are a battle with the social prejudice of gender and generated the image by mass media. Sometimes MoMo makes a trick in her work and focusing us on considering for ourselves. “What is your image of Female or Male?”

MoMo Kim is an artist who was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She was educated in New York City and currently resides in Nha Trang, Vietnam. In her art world, MoMo breaks boundaries between Decorative art and Modernism in contemporary art. Often, MoMo's art is like an autobiography that portrays personal perspectives on the world we are now living in. Through works using various visual media, she aims to share the many facets of her everyday life. The main patterns of our daily life are created and reproduced by combining pieces of the endless images that are readily available through the smartphone in our hands. Other than these creative activities, MoMo writes about her daily thoughts or create installations that reflect her life. Whenever she feels lonely, MoMo creates abstract or collage works using her favorite images.
