Lukáš Císař (1993) lives and works in Prague (Czech Republic) In the work of Lukáš Císař, who lives and works in Benešov, we encounter a specific way of seeing today's consumerist times. His work is inspired by everyday events, even if they are insignificant for society, and facts that the author considers necessary to record. Rather than focusing on global issues, Císař's work critically focuses on the behaviour and thinking of his wider environment, which he considers to be a consequence of the accelerated times in which we all find ourselves. In this process, the author places himself in the background, in the role of a kind of silent observer. The essence of the artist's approach is that he does not put a clear message into the picture at first glance, thus placing the emphasis on the viewer's intention to think. Císař considers this to be central to his work and deliberately tries to make the object difficult to decipher, which then appears to the viewer as unclear, sometimes even saying nothing. "Today we don't think much about paintings, we either like them or we don't, that's all the effort we put into perceiving art, so I try to make the visitor strive to understand the painting", says the artist about his intention. He sees absolute freedom in creation as one of the few meaningful advantages of the 21st century. The artist stands out among the rest for his own technique, which consists of applying small shards and glass dust to freshly applied, wet paint to achieve a raw, sometimes even aggressive surface.
