GIANNI - Limited Edition of 10 Print

My interest in creative and contemporary fashion creations runs parallel. I admire these artists who use real and high quality materials to create such exceptionally beautiful clothes. To which I also count Chistian Dior, for Dior I have already worked graphically, you can see them on www.visualworkers.de in my references. Gianni Versace founded the fashion empire Versace in 1978 (this year I was born) and was an important pioneer when it comes to elaborate prints on fabrics. Gianni Versace has been a role model for me. He created fashion with pomp, glamour and sex – the antithesis to Giorgio Armani’s ascetic elegance. „Armani attracts the wife, Versace the beloved,“ it was soon said. „The question is not whether a girl in a mini skirt is a slut, but what society thinks about it. With my work I try to break these thought patterns“, Gianni once said in an interview. Unfortunately Gianni was shot on July 15, 1997 in front of his villa in Miami, which made me angry and very sad. He was a creative genius in his field and broke through boundaries and brought something new to light. In the work Gianni he exists three times, once as the one who has a talent, once as the one who has an empire and once in form of his spirit after his death. I leave it up to you to recognize the third representation. On the far right you see his murderer symbolically. Naomi Campbell, who was a close friend of Gianni, is also included in the work, the second woman is Carla Bruni. She is again split in the middle, because I find it terrible what the stars do with their faces nowadays. It is a large format canvas. It is a large format canvas.
