Erla Thorarinsdottir graduated from Konstfack in Stockholm 1981. She has been working in Scandinavia and in New York, Paris, Andalusia, China and India. Her current base is in Reykjavik Erla works with time, space and processes where memory, human context and scale is integrated. Painting is a steady occupation. Within her paintings she has used sheets of silver, building light sensitive bodies that exposed to light and time oxidize and transmute. Ever changing light in Iceland is integrated in these works and so is time and sulphur and whatever is in the air; structure and chaos. Her practice incorporates painting and photography, textile design, stone works and installations
