Art Description

New Media: Color, Digital, Manipulated on Aluminium, Canvas, Cardboard, Paper.

I enjoy working with images that involve other people in their work, something that I can believe in and which reminds me of the days when I used to engage in physical crafts to earn my way. This one is of especial interest to me as my father was a master builder, although I do not remember him having a white van.

I was particularly struck by this new commercial building while it was under construction, with the timber planks used to create the form into which the concrete was poured were overlapping the top of the building and the sun was shining through them, casting these diagonal shadows. Of course, I have not included mo0st of the scaffolding that was also present because I wanted instead to focus on the interplay of architecture and shadow. It helped that the design of the van was also quite architectural and its colour, or lack of colour, matched that of the building.
