FENG, XIAO YAN (Shelley) OVERVIEW: I am….Feng, Xiao Yan….an Artist, Painter, Engineer, Designer, an Immigrant, Woman, who lives and works in the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia, Canada. I engaged with education in China and Canada, taking Engineering, Art, and other courses. I have had exhibits in Solo shows in BC / Canada in various places including Burnaby Palace Restaurant, Metro Theatre (several times), the International Art Gallery, and Basic Inquiry Art Studio. All my exhibitions were critically acclaimed! ARTIST BIO: Although I have always had an affinity with, and talent for, the arts (inherited from my Mother who is also my ‘Kindred Spirit’, and is herself in the Arts (and the Author of published books) I am more than the sum of my parts, and experiences. After graduating high school I finished an Art program in prestigious Shanghai from two renowned Art Professors (Xiao and Song). However, I spent the next 25 years being educated, working as a Civil Engineer designing buildings, bridges, and more, in Shanghai….while ‘waiting’. When the time was right the ‘fortune cookie smiled on me’ to immigrate to Canada. Once in Canada I was again able to embrace my creative / artistic core, and painted again. Furious creativity consumed me! Artistic freedom was mine at long last! There is more…much more...but for now, and today, I am at last as you can see today from my paintings on display, my creativity, and talent, as I enjoy free reign.
