ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work was inspired by a slum near Buenos Aires downtown called "Villa 31". Villa is the way the poorest type of neighborhoods are called in Argentina. The complete name is "Villa Miseria". For many years the vast majority of Buenos Aires citizens have been decided to erradicate the Villa 31 for it is standing in what could be one of the most expensive areas of the city, and because sometimes we dont want to see what we dont like from ourselves....the shady part...the unhappy one... Do they have the right to live in that lands they didnt pay for? Do the ones who dont live there have the right to make them leave? these questions haunted me...So one night I got my camera and parked my car in a little area between the two highway lanes and took a couple of images that afterwards served as a tool to develop this painting.... The title is kind of a sarcastic wink: Dinamizando (making it a lively place for those who live there) rather than Dinamitando (that would be to blow up the place to start from scratch, which was what most citizens wanted)

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Started my journey in art attending to painting classes since I was 9 and never stopped from then. Although the path has been rocky many times, making art for me is a lighthouse that shines a light over my life and helps me try to understand where I am and where I am going. And if by chance I get to discover any answer or clue by doing my practice, not only it helps myself but it may also those who get in touch with my work and can resonate with its message. Messages that are not premeditated. Just felt in my heart and humbly transmitted. No mental concepts to call for assisted reflections. I think of my work as an opportunity to delve into a groove that transcends my existence. To navigate through it and be at the disposal of the unexpected, of the unknown, of everything that was, is and will be. A furrow of exploration of what surrounds me, of the visible and the invisible. The process, the experience and the uncertainty above the mental concept, above reaching a certain destination. And in the transit of experience, the findings. Findings that many times even transcend my ability to understand. Registered in each brushstroke, in each gesture, in each choice.
