About The Artwork
It is a memory of my teenage years. An accident i almost had, when i first started driving in my hometown near Mt. Olympus, central Greece. I like using 'traditional' medium such as oil on canvas surface because it feels more direct during the process of creation. Although the outcome sometimes has a digital/glitched aesthetic. The style derives from the gestural nature of the strokes in the painting. The dimensions also play a huge part because it involves and activates the hole body. Bringing me in a state of 'creational ecstasy'. I want to create a feeling of comfort and humbleness, the same when one looks at the perfection of natural landscapes. The car in the center creates the exact oposite dynamic.

Thomas Galatos was born in Athens in 1989 and grew up in Elassona, Olympus. In 2008, after successful entrance examinations he studies in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2009, after entrance examinations he is accepted at Athens School of Fine Arts, where he studies in the second painting workshop taught by G. Lazongas, A. Tzakos. He also attended the sculpture workshop of N. Tranos, graphic arts workshop with Leoni Vidali and photography with M. Babousis.
