About The Artwork

This beautiful Ferrari was on display at a classic car show at the Huntington Beach library grounds when I lived there in 1984. I took several photos and talked at length with the owner, who explained that he purchased the car ten years previous from the Ferrari dealer in Newport beach. He said the car was more than he could afford but he loved it so much that he found a way. He went on to explain that this car was a "Race Prepared" version of the "Evolución," and pointed out the plexiglass headlight covers and the extra air inlets in the hood. Normally there are only four. I didn't paint the watercolor until several years later, after I moved back to the Northwest. I love how the reflections and highlights give form and believability to the plexiglas, the paint and the windshield making the car seem to come out of the paper.

My passion is painting. I draw and sketch daily but have a continuous fascination watching a face come alive as I paint, or paint believable reflections. I want my work to catch the viewer's eye and create an emotional connection. I was born in North Dakota and grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. I began drawing when I was about five years old. I can remember how fascinated I was with fingerpaints and how the colors blended as I smeared my hands through the greasy paints.
