About The Artwork

This modern abstract painting has gone through many permutations. It started in the lead up to 2020 when the Western astrology world was buzzing with the upcoming conjunctions of the planets Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn. In the early stages it was done in pastel shades of white, cream, pink, and grey. Sure enough, it did not disappoint in all the challenges it delivered. As political and other events got more intense the colors started to darken and the energy get more frenetic, gathering in a vortex of synergy, and white, blue, pink and grey became predominate. Meantime I learned that the exact same time/era is the precise transition between what's known as the 5th (daytime) and 6th (nighttime) "suns" (a 54k year cycle) according to the Toltec astrological tradition of the Americas. The time signifies great change and potential for excellent, transformative things to occur, and/or horrific upheaval. In addition to those, about two years hence USA will have its first Pluto return (signified by the two blue circles). I've tried to capture some of the energy, significance, and challenge of this massive era in a snapshot of time and place. By the time I was done it had become clear that intensity/complexity/and sometimes chaos have been a steady theme. But that together they also collectively point to a window of general calm that can be had if we can find stillness in the whirlwind. This is what I've tried to capture.
