601 is a numbered, vacant building on the decommissioned United States Navy repair facility, Mare Island. The base is beside the City of Vallejo, east of San Francisco, CA, open to the public, and a source for realism painters and photographers. I am attracted to weathered textures. Building 601 is clearly neglected and compromised. The Navy cannot maintain these buildings; a few are leased to businesses and the rest suffer. This is wonderful for realists, less so for the structures. Building 601, one of a series of building studies, is professionally framed in black wood.

I am a self-trained oil painter and have painted since 2009. My focus is urban photorealism. I love bright, rusty colors and find cast-aways have rigid integrity. I like occasional portraits, which make intense demands. Being semi-retired frees me from earning my living as a professional artist. My works are modestly priced in several ranges. Please write if you have questions or comments.
