A Face Of God Print

This piece is a part of a small series based on religious iconography and different techniques used by the old masters. In A Face Of God, I explored using Venetian plaster as well as traditional gold leaf. When applying gold leaf Venetian red is often used underneath, exposing itself through the cracks that naturally form in the leaf. Over the many years of Christian art, God is often depicted as a white male when in reality, if God is a spirit, it has no gender or color. And if we are all made in God's image then God has many faces. Here I represent one of God's many potential faces. I cropped the portrait so that it doesn't necessarily lean towards one gender or another. I also used the image of a gold triangle to represent the Holy Trinity as well as a nod to all seeing eyes, which is another representation of God.
