A Study in Browns Print

Artwork Details Study in Browns by Arjumand A. Qazi of Raison Arts On a fine clear day at my house in Karachi, Pakistan, we had a 'points in oil painting' session with a wonderful Afghan artist Mr. Ruhullah Naqshbandi when he shared this valuable information regarding a 'Study in Browns' by starting this painting. We put the composition together ... a beautiful rosewood table in warm brown, a sketch board with brown paper pinned (color of the pin in a light shade of brown) on it in a lighter shade leaned against a light brown wall in the back, a lovely clay pottery vase holding different sizes and colors of brown in the front and on the forefront, an old open book with yellowed pages with brownish hue and a picture of our nation's great leader Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's Mausoleum shown vaguely on the open page. Every colour in this painting was picked with care to keep the theme intact and we used Winsor Newton's oil paint range for this artwork. There was Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Vermillion for shades on the clay vase, bit of Black where shadows were required, Yellow Ochre, White, some Lemon Yellow hue and also hints of Ultramarine! I am sure I have forgotten some of the colours because even when we go monotone we have to add several colours to bring out the hue that you actually want to see on the canvas. It was a very interesting experience as it was supervised by a fabulous artist who used to be an Art Professor in University of Kabul in Afghanistan. I have to recheck the size as I couldn't find the correct size in my notebook where I noted down the sizes.
