About The Artwork

This delicate painting of spring blossoms set against a gentle backdrop of shapes that enter and fade between swirls of soft gold, gives a calming sense of springs embrace. Painting in layers I steadily built this artwork with muted tones, gentle brush strokes and blurred effects that can almost seem transparent. Painted on Dibond Composite panel , a strong and durable surface that is also lightweight.

Charmaine Boyle (b: 1976) Originally from Zimbabwe, I lived most of my life in South Africa and am now based in Scotland. The beauty of these different places has nurtured my senses and continually form part of the inspiration I draw from. The constant promise of a blank canvas with perpetual possibilities keeps luring me into creating new pieces, continually learning, experimenting and advancing my skills. Whilst I never stopped painting and drawing from my earliest years, my two-decade long career in the marketing industry hibernated the dream of painting full-time, which recently became a reality. As a self-taught artist, ‘loving what I do and doing what I love’ has given me the opportunity, and time, to develop and explore this wonderful creative journey. My work reflects my love for nature and its profound effect of calming the soul and nurturing the mind. Originally my focus was to paint wildlife, inspired by my time in Africa. Recently this has shifted towards painting florals, captivated by their delicacy and tranquillity, bringing this into the home in bold impactful artworks. I want my art to captivate, to have you lose track of time, when you don’t have to connect words to it. I find endless inspiration in exploring the interplay of light, colour and texture, steadily building a piece through multiple layers, whilst embracing the imperfections and mistakes - diving deep into this process and into an exciting phase of my art journey. I sell my work directly, exhibit locally and supported vital conservation projects through the sale of my artwork where possible.
