ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My name is Alex Zastanchenko and I have a long history of creating art from moments that inspire me. As I am new to that marketplace, I am starting low prices policy in order to feel the vibe. Don't miss that opportunity to purchase as the prices will rise eventually as the confidence build according to my sales. With over 350 sales record on EBay I decided to make a step up and expose my art at Saatchi. All original made by me in my studio in Kiev my art works will be a good addition to any interior whether it would be an office, living room, condo or a NY type flat. I do accept commissions so be free to contact me. My inspiration here were those long days where I could thing about sunrays as they were falling across my workspace in my studio drawing peculiar shapes. The sun that wildly burns in space has such a positive effect especially during pandemic lockdowns) All materials are without any smells of spirits and oil colours as I use very fine French oil paints and canvases. Stretched cotton canvas will be shipped packed in a bubble wrap and a box.

Ever since becoming involved in painting, I have had numerous art exhibitions to his credit, both at home and abroad. I also did a lot of projects for various publishing houses. All in all, there are over 60 books of fiction personally illustrated by him. Since 1987, has held one-man art shows in Kiev and other cities in Ukraine. Realizing that his paintings were to be seen only by his fellow artists rather than non-existing local art collectors, I left for Moscow where he began a career of a stage designer, preserving his passion and search for his own manner of expression. Although I enjoyed every success that the show business could offer him, in 1998 he decided to quit and come back to his once abandoned dream of developing his unique manner of pursuing human body through intricate, if not cheerless, compositions. I achieved pleasurable results and certain immediacy by pouncing on composition and wrestling with it. Complicated, always different, his characters are transmuted not so much brutally as fondly, with the absorbed and impressive awareness that has become a pigment on canvas was previously alluring flesh, much the way it can be said of Dante’s “Inferno”, “Contemborary Tales” by Chaucer, other grand masters of medieval art and literature. Lanser’s art has significantly evolved since then, but it was the year 2003 when the true nature of his art became pronounced. My creative search has evolved into puzzling compositions where the message is hidden behind seemingly ordinary figures and shapes.
