About The Artwork

Adeline is a watercolor painting inspired by a young woman in a rainstorm. She is surrounded by Spring flowers; and heavily adorned birds hover overhead, holding flowers, as if presenting them to her. Her vibrant, floral embellished scarf nearly blends into the background, as if she may be part of the nature that surrounds her. Adeline is signed on the lower front and back with title. Original artwork is shipped flat, in protective box.

I have been an artist for my entire life- I couldn't have imagined ever doing anything else. After graduating with my MFA in Printmaking, I decided that my desire to travel the world and experience different cultures may lead me down a different path than solely making art- I wanted to share my love and passion with others. So I went back to University, and got my Masters in Education. I then spent the next 8 years traveling and living in Asia, teaching Art internationally. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I am grateful for all of the amazing experiences I have had. I came back to the U.S. in part because I wanted to be able to create a life making my own work, and still be able to share my passion for art. My work is significantly inspired by my many years abroad, and the vibrant colors and people I met along the way. When I work in portraiture, each subject is an amalgam of different people; and as such, not meant as a direct representation of any one person. I primarily tend to work in Watercolor, acrylic and oil; and find that each medium drives the outcome of the work quite differently. In watercolor, I tend to work much more freely; and as it is such a fluid and ever-changing medium, no two paintings will ever be exact duplicates- perhaps this is why I find watercolor so fascinating. My work is heavily inspired by vibrant color, floral elements, and nature, as they are the things I find most beautiful. My paintings begin with a sketch of a subject and loose elements in the background, and then colors and marks are chosen freely as I work. At times I use a specific color palette, but most of the time I allow the energy of the painting to dictate what should come next.
