About The Artwork

Upon a canvas bathed in gradients of azure, a wintery alchemy unfolds, where dense red and golden stucco, akin to molten warmth, intertwines with formless matter. This artistic alchemy invites contemplation, weaving a narrative that whispers of winter's memory, as if the canvas itself were a vessel for the transformative dance of elements. The blue expanse serves as a backdrop, reminiscent of frost-kissed landscapes under a moonlit sky. It becomes a spectral theater for the alchemical interplay—where the dense, crimson stucco, like a visceral manifestation of warmth, contorts and meanders upon the canvas, bringing forth the essence of winter’s recollection. The red and gold, in their amalgamation, evoke the concept of alchemical transmutation, as if base elements were transformed into precious hues. The stucco, dense and vivid, appears to be a molten manifestation of the artist's attempt to transmute winter's chill into an expressive tapestry, each undulation a testament to the transformative power of creative endeavor. As the formless matter expands from the depths to the zenith, it echoes the organic chaos of winter's grasp, the simultaneous retreat and resurgence of life. The golden streaks, like alchemical threads, weave a tale of warmth and resilience within the icy landscape of blue, symbolizing the alchemical fusion of opposing forces. This canvas, with its blue as the winter's soul, and stucco in hues of red and gold as the alchemist's touch, becomes a visual allegory—a testament to the artist's pursuit to transmute the chill of winter into a vibrant expression of the alchemy inherent in creativity. The observer, in the midst of this wintery transmutation, is invited to delve into the alchemical interplay of colors, where the artist's endeavor transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, much like the alchemist's pursuit of turning base metals into gold.

My name is Stefano, born in 2000, and this is a brief summary of my artistic journey. I immersed myself in the magnificent world of contemporary art during the second half of my high school studies, falling in love with Van Gogh's post-impressionist paintings accompanied by the captivating literature of Pascoli's decadentism. After graduating from a scientific high school, I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera (Milan) where I obtained my degree in painting. My early works, dating back to 2016/2017, were unique compositions that encompassed the "Divine Triad of the Arts," namely painting, poetry, and music. After pursuing this project for three years and producing a significant body of work (approximately 40 pieces), I decided to change direction and explore the capabilities of materials in all their aspects, giving them the opportunity to narrate themselves to our naive gaze, attributing to them a meaning beyond their mere objecthood. It is from this point that the series of works titled "The Material of the Gaze" began, a conceptual attempt to tell the story of Plato's hyperuranion and an intrinsic invitation to go beyond the normality of sight. It is an invitation to truly See, delving deep into the soul of things, beyond their mere craftsmanship or color. With this technique, I embarked on a true search for my identity and style, and I believe that as I progress in my studies, this approach will accompany me in every aspect of my artistic evolution.
