About The Artwork
A Mexican Alice meets not one, but four rabbits. They are going to see the queen, but they are always running late. The rabbits don't mind stopping for a chat with her. Alice has not one, but three sisters, they are embroidering, but the little one is not interested in the task. The blue deer in the background is the deity known as Kauyumari. He has signaled the beginning of the ceremonies. The Marakame, or Medicine man of the Wixarika knows of his presence without seeing him. The feathers on his hat hide his face.

My work is inspired by Mexico and its culture. I love to tell and represent the myths, legends, and ways of life of pre-Hispanic people such as the Aztecs, and Maya. Also, today’s ethnic groups, alive and vibrant. I moved to the United States after marrying my Connecticut-born husband. I started showing my paintings at local galleries and getting mentions in newspapers. In Connecticut, I discovered a new life. Seascapes, sailboats, lighthouses, whales, and blue-eyed people started appearing in my work. Later I found Native Americans. They are stunning.
