For my exhibition in Galerie Wind I made an large painting specific for one wall, the largest painting I've made so far. I wanted to investigate my relation between Brasil and the Netherlands and the rivers from both countries in particulier. The result is an impressive painting of both the Amazona and the Maas, combinend with the fireline from the second world war in Rdam and a background of a green cityplan. The second relation between Rdam and The Amazona is that both are destroyed by menkind. The result is a powerfull painting with I'm very proud off.

Ivo Oranje is a Dutchman born in São Paulo in Brasil. For four years he studied dance at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague; a program in which, in addition to dance, other forms of art and culture are taught. After the conservatory he chose to study at the hotel school. He had a successful career in the hospitality industry, but after many years he decided to return to his original artistic background. Ivo Oranje paints modern, abstract and often colorful works on both large and small canvases. His themes often relate to cities in general, but to Rotterdam and São Paulo in particular. The materials he works with are acrylic paint on canvas in combination with markers, pencils, ink or oil pastel. In addition to painting, Ivo currently works as a personal counselor in healthcare in which he supports people creatively. Mark Rothko is a great inspiration. I love the way he thinks and paints. His favourite comment for me is: "I hope to paint something that will ruin the appetite of every son of a bitch who ever eats in that room". Something I can relate to as former waiter.
