This painting tells the tale of a girl who defies her society, by being the most brilliant and vibrant figure around her. She doesn't let her culture determine how she should dress, or what colors should fit the theme. Truly marvelous! What inspired me to create this art, was my previous childhood memories of living the Dominican Republic. Every aspect of my life, had been extremely vibrant and has always inspired my writing and artwork. I liked how everyone expressed themselves differently when it came to fashion and culture. Individuality was something that was celebrated and its unfortunate that when I came to the United States, I felt like I was ostrasized because I thought, looked and dressed different. But now, like Annabella, I am completely myself and value my own thoughts and feelings, before others. Living this way has made me a lot more happy. I hope anybody who sees this feels this way too and they themselves do not let society define them. Living under the mold of what society wants you to be, can be a very unhealthy style of living and I hope I never go back to those toxic ways of thinking. I am an individual and so is Annabella
