Artium Genius Mundi Print

Artium Genius Mundi... In Da Vinci's recently discovered painting of Christ, Salvator Mundi, many art historians have speculated about the crystal ball. My painting “Artium Genuis Mundi” represents Christ’s POV of DaVinci. I used the crystal ball is the unifying symbol: Christ the prophet and DaVinci the seer. One world looking into the soul of the other. There are other interpretive elements: Using a layer of very thin white reflective acrylic, I added a ghostly face, within the face. It can only be seen from certain angles and seems to change with varying distances, under varying lighting conditions. In the background one can see a fragment of DaVinci’s final words in mirror-script: “I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have” My humble tribute to the master.
