The “Moodpieces” brand was launched and developed soly in 2013 by the founder and CEO, Rick A. Sorrells. Since 2004 he would create and direct(and often host) his very own platforms as well as exhibitions with and at such events and establishments in the Dallas area such as The Black Forest Theater under as well as with the vision of the Dallas native and musical award winning Erykah Badu, Countrywide Homeloans, The Akita Group, the once renowned The Slip Inn. During his budding and early works in his scholistic years as an Austin native he's earned and participated in countless amount of art contests for Eckards drug store, Walmart and received awards and various accolades from the sorority Zeta Phi Beta and with his involvement of Communities In Schools under the umbrella of Americorp. In 1998 after his graduation he sought off to enhance is development with his move to Dallas to attend The Art Institute to study illustration and graphic design while being astounded by the arts and culture at Northpark mall where he made a self promise to one day attain the opportunity to install his pieces. By 2017 whilst venturing the uneasy industry of mortgage banking, Rick would further concrete his efforts with his involvement of the Business Council of the Arts and was placed 1st as well as for a 2nd time in 2018 with honorable mention which would allow him to see that self promise with installment of two of his prized works; "Trane in Thought" and later "Bowrette". In pursuit of his new realities and visions he collaborates with exhibiting his pieces at local galleries and venues such as the Vega Studio, The Taboo Lounge and frequently The People's Last Stand Here in Dallas, Tx. Moodpieces continues to be rooted in experience and dedicated to quality and originality consisting of full service and customized murals, portraits and just plain old imagination to accommodate the growing need for artistry where ever the brush leads him.
