About The Artwork
I've been working on a new project for a while now: BARK! I think the patterns and colors in tree barks are beautiful. That inspired me to start painting those patterns and colors with oil paint. I started with small works on canvas measuring 20x30 cm, studying these patterns very carefully and trying to approximate them as closely as possible. After some experimenting with smaller works, I started working on a large format 80x100 cm canvas. For this painting I was inspired by a chesnut tree. I was again inspired by the structures and colors of this tree bark, but gradually during the process I increasingly went my own way and let go of the real bark. It's great to work with the paint and see what happens.
