ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this artwork, I have used watercolor differently. I worked with lines like a drawing with a dip pen but with a brush using the color range available from watercolors. Here I represent The Battle of the Egos with two people in position and ready to fight. Their backs also show egos bursting out of their backs, coming out to fight as well. This is an original artwork on watercolor paper. Overview of the Artwork • This watercolor represents the battle of egos, symbolized by two people ready to fight, with their egos portrayed by inner creatures prepared to battle. • Name: “La Batalla de los Egos” (Battle of the Egos) • Original watercolor painting on Fabriano “Hot Pressed” watercolor paper, signed by the artist Pablo Montes O’Neill • Size: Paper size = 14" x 20" (1/2" of paper/white space around) artwork size = 19" x 13" • Note that this watercolor is delivered unframed. • Certificate of Authenticity provided

I seek to project authentic, intimate interpretations of the world I encounter. As a native of Puerto Rico, I am influenced by the characters, emotions, images, and colors associated with the island. Sometimes I turn to my childhood memories to address the existential questions I want to express. I've recently explored the concepts of time, energy, light, and space through my paintings and drawings. This has led me to work with hybrid subjects and media that can converge figuration with traits of abstraction and surrealism. I use symbolism and distortions to bridge the figures and their environment, creating scenes where surrounding energies and time metaphors serve as the glue of an idea.
