About The Artwork

This painting started out as a series about dogs and people. I've made the painting a bit rough to get a Street art style. Using oil and acrylics paint together gives it a feel of having been painted really fast. The rich colours come from the oil paint. Suitable for the subject of youth hanging out somewhere in the park or a public place. Chilling with each other.

Francisca Rosner paints women and girls from the fashion world. Some of them she leaves behind on an alienated catwalk, others are placed in a setting that evokes associations with an abstract landscape, maps, and patterns of substances and plants. By choosing to paint the woman against a meaningful or enigmatic background, Rosner gives them a new identity, freeing them from their status as objects. The boundaries between foreground and background blur: the women who apparently want to step into the foreground partly dissolve into their camouflage-like environment. People turn into plants... turn into dust... turn into maps and maps turn into landscapes. With this poetic approach and the interplay between the visible and partly concealed or obscured, the paintings arouse questions about the space the figures eventually occupy.
