This painting was inspired by the sheer brutal joy of making daring and shamelessly grand plans for the future with my best friend. Shared ambitions and ideals build and gain their own reality because a shared illusion becomes a world that you can live in. Reality is but perception. There are those people and those moments when together you feel invincible and that's because you really are. This piece combines oil paint and oil pastel using the contrast between surface and line, and between the smooth texture of brushstrokes and the intermittent rougher texture of oil pastel trace to create an eclectic spiral composition held together by the characters that constitute its focal point.
