ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A small picture of calm and agility. Gathering before the decision inspired me to this picture. The dugout canoe, as in all my pictures, is an allegory for ourselves.

I was born (1953) and raised in Andernach by the river Rhein. After my studies I lived and worked in many different places like Ibiza, Gomera, Kathmandu, India and Kyoto in Japan as a freelance artist for almost 13 years. In those places I had many solo exhibitions. Landscapes and especially trees and water in all their different varieties reveal for me very intense feelings - they are full of hidden perceptions and memories, also they appear as a constant challenge to express in my art works.
