What's the most unique and endlessly unusual but at the same time casually close and around us every day? . . For me this is people, authentic and real people, bringing the whole diversity of their emotions, thoughts, expressions and vibes to life. . So that was the reason why for this portrait of Khatuna, my namesake. I was so much impressed by the original photograph by @natela_grigalashvili, that almost instantaneously decided to make a pastel copy. . . Natela has shot wonderful stories about life in rural Georgia. That's where part of my family roots come from. Khatuna is just 21, but she has already got kids and a household to look after. . . . We might only guess when exactly the photograph was was taken. However, I can certainly imagine it was one of just a few minutes during the day of endless chores and routines when Khatuna found a minute for herself. . . A blissfull moment may and probably does look a bit diferent for many. Perhaps the true happiness in a small Georgian village is exactly like that – enjoying the silence in the morning, while the kids are yet sleeping... .

Painting has always been my passion. Quite often and consistently though I have been trying other creative mediums like ceramics, wool, dotting, or crafts like doll-making. As you might have noticed from the website my preferred themes are landscapes and especially sea views, still life and also abstract visualisations of surreal dreams. I use different techniques, but my most favourite ones remain oil and pastel. Acrylic, charcoal, pencil, watercolour and other materials are good friends of mine too. I am usually painting at my studio but occasionally enjoy plein air sketching and painting in countryside of Ireland. Travelling often brings new ideas and I ultimately rely on it for inspiration.
