This work was inspired by my childhood growing up in Iowa, often I would look outside in the winter to see an entirely different world when it would snow. Some of the most beautiful natural views I have experienced involved snow- specifically the juxtaposition of harshness and beauty found when water transforms from liquid to solid and subsequently transforms the land and sky it touches.

I'm a Midwest small town girl living in the lone star state. At 30 I was fresh out of a failed marriage and subsequent ugly divorce with two young children. Life wasn't what I had expected so I decided to purse a career opportunity in another state as a way to obtain a more secure future for my family. I left everyone and everything I knew for the hope of a better life and a fresh start. Somewhere between what was and what is, I found love again, discovered a passion for creating art, and found that the question of what you want to be when you grow up can have more than one right answer. Painting is a passion, my creative outlet, and could be considered borderline personal therapy for me. Every time I start to paint, there is this desire to give life to an idea that exists only in my mind. No idea can be perfectly transferred from imagination to reality through the strokes of a brush or the blending of colors. An unsolved paradox for a type A personality such as myself. Perfection that can only be achieved through the acceptance of imperfection is a strange sort of self torture for a woman whose career is solving complex theoretical multivariable equations through the use of logic and structured mathematical assumptions. Painting forces me to let go and to relax, it teaches me to learn to see what could be from the mistakes I make trying to force what should have been.
