About The Artwork

I live in the beautiful seaside town of Kiama where we are surrounded my magnificent coastal and landscape views. Blowhole Point is an iconic location in Kiama. I have completed many different paintings of Blowhole Point. It fascinates me and acts as a motif for me around which I can describe the weather, the light, the energy of nature and vision

Brief Bio and artists statement: I was born in London in 1949 where I lived for 30 years. In 1979 I moved to Sydney, Australia. Presently I live in Kiama, New South Wales. I hold both British and Australian citizenship. I have an extensive background in art having commenced professional studies in 1974. Between 1980 and 2009 I was employed full-time at a Technical & Further Education art school as a teacher of fine arts. A Doctorate of Creative Arts was conferred by the University of Wollongong in 1997 (link: ro.uow.edu.au/theses/1751/ ). The major part of my practice has been painting with watercolours and oils. Subject matter includes landscape, portraiture, life drawing and still life. The landscapes are often completed on location. I enjoy being in the environment and interpreting it live. The challenge and compositional problems presented in the transfer of energies stimulates and gives substance to my studio work.
