In an attempt to understand what iki was I read the most famous work of the philosopher and poet Kuki Shuzo. Iki is a term that is difficult to translate and encompasses concepts such as aesthetics, ethics, essence, seduction or more in particular, everything that is worthy of attention. This work is part of the evening "the perception of iki", a personal exhibition that I created in 2016 in collaboration with the Nipponbashi association of Treviso, to promote a cultural bridge between Italy and Japan. This figure of a woman is elegant, enveloping. There is relaxation in his pose and abandon. But he looks at the viewer, as if waiting for his reaction. I chose oil for its body and the strength of the material and its colors. The mixture, the play of reliefs and the brilliance of the color which is unparalleled.
