About The Artwork

The holocene is a geological time, and was the most recent warning period on the earth (the recent few decades are termed the antropocene which is more or less man made). I Finnegans Wake naked woman are part of the dream, here I have painted a group of girls in blue jeans, as naked to create a vision of water and rivers in the figurative composition. The title blue girls from Holocene reflects on the novel Man in the Holocene by Max Frisch. In this novel Frisch explore the landscape of an old man's consciousness as he slips away from himself toward death and reintegration with the age-old history of our planet (the Holocene). In the novel, like in the painting dominating colors are the navy blue, the white, the hair (or hat?), the blue colormixes and the lack of clothes, since it was a warm period.

Zonation paintings focus on integrating and balancing the elements: lines, tones and colours. I follow an expressionist painting philosophy inspired by Cézanne, Kleé and followers. Motives: Copenhagen cityscapes, croquis, stilleben. Artworks in acrylics, oil, aqua oil, multicoloured chalk, aquarelle and pencils. I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
