"Body of Water" series Ink on paper 2017 I’m picturing bodies as beautiful shells, the homes of our spirits that together make up the radiant beings we are. These paintings may show the unexpected and beautiful variations of our skins. Or the energies that swirl, explode and melt within. We are as alive as the wild ocean of blue water, in fact we are mostly water. Like big anxious cucumbers with dreams, fears and Instagram accounts. Sometimes we wake up in the morning to look ourselves in the mirror with admiration, other days we tell that same reflection good morning looser, go back to bed. But thats ok. Beneath our faults and shortcomings, our slow burning dreams and proud achievements we are just water all the same. It’s a small joy in my daily life to think about that. We are just bundles of churning energy speeding through time and space contained in vessels with freckles, love handles and crooked noses. I'm trying not to get too caught up in the packaging of it all but to just enjoy that ride.
