About The Artwork

Here is a painting in my popular ‘Bosch’ series. In my painting I decided to extract a very small part from the right panel of the triptych entitled “The Haywain”. The central panel features a large wagon of hay surrounded by fools engaged in a variety of sins and their journey continues into the right panel where the cart drawn by infernal beings is dragging everyone to Hell, hence the strange characters depicted within my painting. Hieronymus Bosch is known for his paintings of amazing and wonderful pictures. He was one of the first European painters to paint about everyday life. He let the horrors he saw each day spill out onto his painting, which was creative and different for his period. I am enamoured by his work and can spend hours examining his work. As his work has so much going on, I decided to extract several small pieces and characters from his paintings and make them my own. I have not recreated the entire original painting but have taken part of it and applied my painting style and colours. Through the relationship between the various elements within the work hints of narrative and representation may emerge. Perfect for adding a statement piece to living spaces that may create a talking point with visitors. Executed in good quality acrylic paints, painted on all sides, and finished with a glaze of gloss varnish to protect against sunlight and dust. It just needs a nail or wall fitting to sit flush against the wall. You will receive a signed certificate of authenticity. The painting is A2 size and is on stretched canvas. All art is professionally packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. My works have been shipped worldwide. About me: I am a painter, mostly in oils although I have begun to switch between oils and acrylics. I love to paint, love colours, shapes’, and textures. I love the idea that a different story can be read into each of my paintings and each viewer may interpret a story different to another.

Corinne is a UK based artist having previously worked in the finance industry. While appreciating art most of her life, she began painting about four years ago and is largely self-taught. Corinne paints almost exclusively with oils and works in a Studio space at The Artworks, Halifax, West Yorkshire. She considers oils as the most vibrant and challenging of the mediums and the vibrancy of colours and textures are shown within her work. However, due to the 2020 Covid-19 virus and the UK lockdown Corinne was only able to access acrylic paints and has produced a number of different style paintings. Corinne is particularly inspired by the Netherlandish Art of the Sixteenth Century, notably the two masters Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. She is totally fascinated by their work. Bosch who embodies the phantasmagorical force of painting, while Bruegel through his true-to-life landscapes and frank depictions of peasants. She loves the idea that there is a story within their works and has been inspired to paint some of their works but applying her own style of painting. As an artist Corinne loves to present the viewer with themes and subjects that raise their own thoughts and views on what the subject matter is telling them. Corinne has now completed painting the Seven Deadly Sin series of drawings of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Bruegel made these preparatory drawings in ink for subsequent engraving by Pieter van der Heyden. His drawings depict the essence of human nature by illustrating moralising imagery through a comic lens. Corinne’s aim is to bring these drawings to life by applying her painting style using vibrant colours and textures. Corinne is passionate about her work she produces and hopes that the viewer will love her work as much as she does when painting.
