Bozsu is the main channel that feeds most of the other channels of Tashkent with water. It originates from Chirchik a few tens of kilometers north of Tashkent and north of the city of Chirchik near the village of Gazalkent (above the Gazalkent dam). In the 30s of the XX century, the Bozsu hydroelectric power station was built on the Bozsu canal-the first one as part of the Chirchik-Bozsu cascade of hydroelectric power plants. The reservoir of this power plant was first used as an artificial lake for the recreation of residents of the city — the so-called "Hydra". Currently, this reservoir is one of the reservoirs of the Tashkent water supply network system
