About The Artwork

Where the eye of history crosses cones of shadow , the gaze of art traces paths of light. This cycle of work tells the story of the Herero , the people of Namibia, who were victims of the first genocidie in the 20th century. A past that re-emerges among the thousand colours of which the garments worn by Herero women are made, entirely by hand and still worn today as asimbol of resistance and the affirmation of their identity.

MY INTEREST FOR PAINTING AND THE ENGRAVING TECHNIQUE PUSHED ME TO ATTEND THE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS OF NAPLES AND IN APRIL 2016. I LIVE IN ITALY, BETWEEN NAPLES AND MODENA. INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH British artists in the late 1800s during the Victorian era were the point of reference for my final thesis in the engraving technique as well as subsequent paintings currently underway. Strange characters, such as pixies, hobgoblins, humanized birds and indefinite creatures were extensively designed to depict adult books or fairytales from the skilled hands of illustrators and painters of that time and served to turn the gaze away from a reality of great modernization and great misery. I do not think this message has changed much today. The pictures I use, portray the moments of everyday life, representing the "contrasts of our time". These are the prerequisites for my latest works where , in addition to the figurative representation on canvas, the need to build it literally with the help of paper was added. My hands in "Herero Painting" are the basis of the whole project. the Colors oil painting and emotion do the rest.
