Isha is an architect with experience working on large design projects around the world and is currently leading an office with 25+ staff. She has worked on numerous design and graphic design projects over the past 10 years and has been a professional artist for the past 5 years. “Art allows me to be. I try to create images that are alive and that have a sense of atmosphere. This is something that designing buildings has taught me- the feel of the space is as important as the design itself. I bring this knowledge to my art. Like spaces, my art is visually changing- it looks different based on the lighting and the time of day.” Isha focuses on nature for inspiration, drawing particular comfort from depicting skyscapes and oceanscapes. The art she makes tends to be more abstract with some parts realism- “There are certain aspects of a scene that always matter more to me and I paint them differently, and in turn people tend to experience them differently.” She prefers acrylics as a medium. Having a very demanding work schedule she would initially only find time to paint on stolen hours over weekends. This made acrylics a natural choice. Now, she experiments with fluids and watercolours in her work but still prefers acrylics. “I love the quickness that acrylic affords me- I love the rapidity of thought and emotion and scene that I can capture on canvas.”
