About The Artwork

This is one in a set of two paintings entitled Captive 1 & 2. They represent how I see the living conditions that so many are facing in their normal daily lives. Behind each scene of razor wire protective fencing is a story - either holding captive someone who would most likely want to be on the other side of this fencing or barricaded wall, or holding captive someone who would most likely not want those on the outside to enter their protected domain. Sadly this was protection around a luxury hotel but could just have easily been around the perimeter of a prison. I have tried to portray the photograph of the painting as close to the original colouring as possible. I have used Acrylics on canvas on a mounted board. The artwork is unframed.

Shipping & Returns

I have tried many different art forms over the years including pottery, stained-glass, photography and many others. Since retiring from a career as a school librarian some years ago I have been privileged to enjoy experimenting with acrylics and various materials and textures and am always game to try something new or different. My experimenting techniques have lead to some interesting effects but have included the odd disaster that has literally gone up in flames. I have a great love for all of Gods creation but particularly for Africa, its people and wildlife and have tried to interpret this in my personal expression of artwork. I was born in East London South Africa in 1953 and moved to Durban some 25 years ago. I am a proud wife, mother of 2 & grandmother with 4 delightful grandchildren
