About The Artwork
Carousel's are primarily associated with fun, innocence, childhood etc. but l experience an underlying malevolence suggested by the often leering expressions on the animal and human figures going round and round. I often feel they are mocking us, that we think we are in for a fun ride but in fact they have something much more unsavoury planned for us! l choose the subject as a means of reminding us that it’s not all fun and that we don’t control things as much as we think we do.
