About The Artwork
I am interested where the dichotomy of place (landscape), spirituality and science collide. Raised in a religious home I have a tendency to look for the magical in life. As an adult who likes to think I firmly believe in science, I still find myself taken away by the bewitching qualities of the landscape. I have geometric shapes that cut into the earth to show the sedimentary layers of the terra, which represents to me, the many layers of experience that build up in my life, creating who I am. The eons old earth layers reflect that build up.

Leanne C. Miller was born in Phoenix AZ. Miller relocated to California to attend San Francisco Art Institute, graduating from there in 2005. She resided in San Francisco until 2012, making and showing her work in California and New York. She also curated shows at various establishments and joined the San Pancho Art Collective, S.P.A.C., which opened the Incline Gallery, SF in 2010. Leanne was commissioned by many organizations to create murals all over San Francisco. She decided to leave her adopted home and return to the desert to work toward an MFA at the University of Arizona, Tucson, receiving her degree in May 2015.
