Churchill Way Flyovers Print

Rummaging through my old photographs, I found a pic of the old Churchill Way Flyovers. It allowed pedestrians, starting in 1970, to access Liverpool John Moore's University Street campus. A part of those flyovers had big and nice curves that I wished I could represent in an abstract painting. Made of concrete, dirty gray and covered by mould and dirt just before it got demolished in 2019, I decided to give this good old path somme joyful colours. Just to mark a clear opposition to what it looked like just before its desappearance, when students were heading for their diplomas ! A kind of tribute for those venerable passages who saw thousands and thousands of students all along the years. As usual, I sketched a lot to find the best approach to represent those famous flyovers. And I hope I succeeded at the time I washed my brushes for the last time.
