ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting happens to be a personal favorite because of the contrast between the matte rough background that is heavily textured and the smooth glossy accents. Use of translucent medium along with dry brush strokes creates a feeling of depth that is brought together with a circular sweep overlay as a focal point. I am originally from the Chicago area, but currently reside in the Santa Marianita area near Manta, Ecuador. I have been involved in both art and photography since high school and my style has evolved to become more and more of the abstract expressionist type over time. I paint with acrylics and my pieces often contain multiple layers of paint, textures along with transparency to create depth. Most recently, some of the colors in my work have been influenced by living at the beach with blues, aquas and golden hues. Living in Ecuador also allows me the time to continue to create new work and explore new ideas.
