"Warm summer winds pass through the valley, sun streaking across the blue, whip-creamed clouds. Some days I fancy myself the roadrunner, others the tortoise. Life lives here regardless. I'm reminded that this was once an ocean. A place full of water and sea life. The shells in the sand. How did they get here? It dried up a long time ago." Paint Peel paintings are painted side down on a separate surface that it is later peeled from to reveal the abstract painting underneath. This type of painting allows for paint seepage and other creative markings. Serendipitous. I hope that one can feel how inspired to try art for themselves and that all the little mistakes are much like our lives, they feel uncertain at the time, but later it makes up the whole of our lives. A complete picture. Thats what these paint peel paintings do for me. They remind me that everything has lead me to this point in time.

Tatiana Hantig (b.1983) is a first generation American-Czech painter and photographer. Raised abroad with her parents show production, The Fercos Untamed Illusions, she toured throughout Asia, Europe, North and South Americas. Her experiences growing up was a combination of raising exotic felines, constant travel living in hotels, motels and trailer tours as well as being surrounded by performers of all types. Throughout their travels, Las Vegas was home base and where she attended the University of Las Vegas, Nevada where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art Photography. Her paintings and photography have taken her to ArtPrize in Michigan multiple times, numerous galleries in Las Vegas, and over a dozen public murals for Clark County, Nevada for the ZAP! Project and the El Cortez Hotel. She currently resides in Oregon continuing her R&D in the arts.
