The Volkswagen Beetle is the best-selling car of all time, built by the German manufacturer Volkswagen, and whose name means People's Car. After the war, it became famous all over the world for its exceptional production and longevity. Because of its very round shape, it is often affectionately called the "beetle" in different languages: "Käfer" in Germany, "Beetle" in the UK, "Kever" in the Netherlands, or "Escarabajo" in Spain. But it is called "Maggiolino" (beetle) in Italy, and "Coccinelle" in France.

Born in Courrières in the North of France, I share my time between the North of France and Paris which inspires me many urban scenes including café terraces. I have always used oil paint because slow drying suits my technique better. I work in series by inspiring my surrounding, places I go to, objects I own and stage. In the series "Réflexions sur le temps qui passe", I treat the cars and Vespa in the manner of the "vanities" of the past by perforating the bodies, rusting them, thus translating the time that passes and which reduces to few things once prestigious vehicles. The parallel is obvious with our own existence. In the still lifes séries, I stage objects with a preference for metal and glass and using a palette of coloured grey and nuanced white so as to have a contemporary touch. In the series "Mes petites Nanas", I interpret scenes, situations, by putting in scene my daughter who is used to me as model (The comedy of the feelings, or the works on the small girls). Finally, the urban landscapes are inspired, as I said earlier, by my numerous stays in Paris where I live part of the year.
