Painting is about a creature who was born under the neighborly exploding supernova. Her parents didn't care about her much and when a weird illness progressed slowly, which made her transparent and more invisible day by day, they like totally forget about her. Of course she missed emotional connection a lot, but she didn't realize that, so the pain mostly stay unconscious - and she was pretty busy absorbing reality anyway. First - she had this unbelievably good vision on details - you know those cheesy quotes about seeing world in a drop of water? She actually sees that. Her quills look like self-defense, but mostly work as ears. She listen so deeply that she can hear your thoughts, if you are one of those slow thinkers. Sensory input is not a heavy load here as it may seem. Her main struggle and quality comes from ability to make connections - at least in an abstract intellectual level. It makes her memory fuzzy because its easier to rebuild some knowledge from scratch then remember it. So - everything she knows about herself is a distant dens memory that she exist but that's it - it's just a dark silhouette on a twilight undefined background. As an opposite - the world around her is beautiful - every smallest shit (from our perspective) has its meaningful place in the universe - and the universe itself is a wonderful living entity which have a deep breath between laughs in a multiverse family kitchen. She has her ethical issues too - as she sees people when they don't know they are watched (cause if she make them know - she scares a shit out of them) - she has no illusions about people's real motivations and reasons of choice - so she triple checks all the time her inner drive and impulses and this cruel self inspection always lead her to a dead-end and inaction. And there is some things for her to be really ashamed of - like using her invisibility to steal pastries from a bakery. Enough about her - let me tell you about him - he is a water dragon - and like a normal painted mystical creature he has ability to stay alive in an open space - that's what he did when he was unwillingly traveled from a distant galaxy when explosion of supernova drop him out of his cradle. His family was crying their eyes out but - deep down they thought that this was a karmic zest of life because the baby as ugly and antisocial as he was didn't really fit in their family. The emptiness of soundless space made him as he is now - one-track narrow-minded self-absorbed what-the-fuck. No home, no connections, no legitimate point of reference. Just a cynical inner voice with no words which stamps a big foot on a deep smoldering desire every time the life force itself trays to stream trough his chest. And the planet of the slowly fading hedgehog was the first planet he ever crossed path with. For a months he was sleeping under the water, those impressions were so intense. Then he got used to it and found a new aspiration in collecting a black pearls which are making music like thing every time they grow. He feels this almost love essence for those little creatures - at least he started when he accidentally swallow one of them and notice for the first time what lost and to miss something feels like. You probably want this to go on like a love story - and the truth is - the water dragon is so acute he can see even a dark matter - so he is the only one who can possibly see the hedgehog and if it happens - it will turn out that when he looks at her she will start to get visible again. At least for herself. After all this time when he was listening to Buddhists object of excitement - called emptiness, he probably will enjoy how hedgehog are chattering about her faults in a humorous sarcastic manner inwrought with sore self-hatred threads which sticks together her fragmented parts of her traumatized psyche. So you may think - it's destiny, a perfect match, right? Probably - but the thing is - I am going to stop here. Not really ready for disappointment if I keep writing and they don't meet later in a story or worse - they meet but it turns out that they are to damaged for healthy relationships.
