In 2014 Salvador Dalí would have celebrated 110 years. Even though he passed away more than two decades ago, his influence is still profusely felt. He has touched also my heart and as the epitome of creativity has become a member of my personal ‘pleiad’. I decided to create a painting reflecting my vision of him, based on a dreamscape that I had glimpsed earlier. Following Dali’s ‘Paranoiac-Critical Method’ I filled the canvas with double meanings. In the painting are several acts of morphing realities and multiple aspects are melting together, the petrifying look of decapitated Medusa, the decapitation of John the Baptist… I mention about it in a video presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbo9BJLrmhQ I mention in the video that the painting contains one hidden metamorphosis, which “changes all”. If you don’t fall for the first impression and for what is said, but observe all details and connect the apparently unrelated, you are able to realize that his head is perhaps not cut off but may stand for a totally different scene… instead of death, you discover life. This painting is designed to provoke and evoke the creative spirit. Inspired by Dali’s theory of ‘paranoid–schizoid‘ state in the process, I signed it in my own blood. It’s a symbolic expression. Artists put themselves into their work. We often invest our life into our work… and blood is life. There’s literally a piece of me in this art.

Slovakia
Czechoslovakia-born artist, writer, and language enthusiast. The painter behind the Sunroset project: - aiming at expressing the vivacity of the spirit of the portrayed people though the contrast of vibrant colours - aiming at expressing the message that there is a sun in each us but not always we see it. - emphasizing through the contrast and symbolism that the beauty can be both ephemeral and eternal, depending on which aspect of it we focus - the style is usually marked by the blending of romance, nostalgia, hope, existentialism and exploration of meaning.
