About The Artwork
Crescendo which means the loudest or most intense part of a gradually developing musical piece is a watercolour work, rendered on 300GSM, cold pressed, acid free paper, that tries to capture the energy and essential dynamism of a live music performance. The grandness of its vision is encapsulated in its size, 22x28in, the sheer number of performers it depicts, and the complexity of its composition which brings together a large ensemble coordinating a multipart performance in a large auditorium with varied lighting. It is inspired by many live concerts I have attended and the absolutely mesmerizing effect the coupling of sound and light exerts on the imagination.

As an artist I'm interested in classical style as well as modern technique. Specifically, I'm interested in using the visual idioms of classical style, with their emphasis on accuracy, perspective, and proportionality, in the service of creating representational art that conveys more than a photograph can. While I work with pastels, pencils, and acrylics too, I am partial to watercolours.
