About The Artwork

This is the first artwork of the collection "Les Précieuses". This collection was created in 2019. It was inspired by the vivid colors used by the famous fashion designer houses Dolce & Gabbana & Versace. The artwork was selected for the January 2021 “Kromatic@rt” exhibition organised by the M.A.D.S. Art Gallery in Milan, Italy. The work entitled “Día de los Muertos”, in which a Mexican skull is the undisputed protagonist, was inspired from the collection of Dolce&Gabbana dedicated to Frida Kahlo. The fashion house honored the artist and her homeland, Mexico, making dresses with floral fabrics and eagles representing the Mexican flag.

Original luxurious colourful Art ! « I cannot refrain from a totally abstract art that clings to nothing. My quest is to unite a Moorish sense of the decorative with a Western concern for realism.» I am a self-taught artist who since 2016 paints in oils. I presented my first group exhibition in 2019 in Luxembourg and I now collaborate with several art galleries and digital art platforms. I have two studios, one in the Florida Keys and the other in Quebec. Inspirations & Philosophy Influenced by my Mediterranean origins, the colorful richness of Byzantine icons, decorative arabesques, the luxuriance of Middle Eastern printed fabrics and the mastery of Russian art captivate me. Through my works, I seek to bridge the gap between the decorative/oriental sense and the importance of realistic Western qualities. My compositions are deeply inspired by Delacroix, Matisse, and Bonnard and by more contemporary painters such as Marco del Re, Olga Zelinskaya, Olga Suronova, and Eric Wert. It is therefore not surprising that my style can be considered close to the Nabi movement of which Bonnard was a part. Nabi expresses the spiritual quest they have undertaken and the aesthetic renewal they have initiated. This movement, created in 1888, and which is part of the post-impressionist history but detaches itself from it, advocates the return to the imaginary and subjectivity with the idea of an essentially decorative and accessible art that embellishes life! Style & technique Using aquatic or animal elements, I create many transparency and color brightness effects using traditional glazing techniques. This marked the beginning of my adventure, between the Nabi artistic movement and the ancestral techniques of the great Masters. The contrasts thus obtained reveal an understanding and mastery of the medium, while highlighting my visual creativity which seeks to create a style mixing oriental influences and western modernity. Inspired by Matisse and Marco Del Re, a contemporary painter who was nourished by great masters such as Matisse, Derain, Braque, I create compositions that juxtapose and overlap, and where colors arouse deep and suggestive emotions in observers. Like Matisse, my works mix decorative orientalism and Western realism: purity of color, applied in flats, drawing treated in arabesque with shadow and modelling.
