My media is water media and collage. I currently do non-objective work using a limited palette of color and texture. My journey is self-discovery through dreams and memories. I find subject matter is sometimes secondary to the tools that I use. Color, shape and design are what guide me toward completion of a piece of work. My style has changed immensely, from realism to abstract over the years, attributed to constant study, passion and attention to my art. I have studied with many well-known national and international artists. Throughout my art career, I have received multiple awards of merit and excellence and my work is included in the Preston Haskell contemporary art collection and private as well as corporate collections. An article, “Beyond the Brush”, was featured in the Watercolor Artist magazine’s April 2009 issue. My work is also included in North Light Book , “A Walk Into Abstracts-Vol. II”, published by Sue St. John. Brian Sherwin, National Art Critic - Comments: "Gabiou's artwork is powerful. The works I viewed offer the perfect balance between being bold and soft --they come together well." Sherwin added, "Her methods are solid. I'm truly impressed."
